Not-so-ordinary promotion paths? Yes, it’s all possible at STP!

Daniel Cisek becomes the new CTO at Kickback

STP designs and develops digital products of the Schibsted-owned companies. In addition, it appreciates its employees’ potential, efforts, and ideas. Even more when they translate into the actual growth of particular brands. So if you think that, once you have become a part of our Polish branch, there is only one set path of promotion ahead of you – think again! And yes, we have an example of it. Meet Daniel Cisek, Engineering Manager at STP, who has just taken on the newly created position of CTO at Kickback.

Web and mobile applications, platform solutions developed to meet the needs of end-users and the internal purposes of the entire Schibsted group – this is just a handful of examples of projects pursued by STP. In summer 2017, as part of the company’s active development, the Polish branch launched cooperation with Kickback. It is an international, dynamic technological company with a mission to assist consumers in making informed decisions during the online purchase process. Over the last five years of cooperation, despite several bumps along the road, the companies have maintained a perfectly tuned partnership that has continued to produce even better results thanks to the actions taken by Daniel Cisek. His duties included, among others, partner relation development as well as constant project improvements that required him to present a particular skill set, take action, and test solutions to boost the project’s growth.

“Dan is, first of all, a very strongly skilled developer. He has been working closely with Arne, the previous CTO, so that is already a major strong point. We are a small company, and we need a CTO to be hands-on and actually know how to code. Dan also has the right mindset for our company and the way we work, he fits very well into our agile start-up culture where we mix dedicated/highly committed work with a lot of humour, and where the focus is on getting stuff done” – says Lene Fredly Rousseau, Chief Executive Officer at Kickback.

When Kickback announced its intention to create the position of a Chief Technology Officer, with its vast scope of duties and high level of responsibility, STP did not hesitate to back Daniel’s candidacy:

“Daniel was a very good candidate for this roleperfectly familiar with IT  solutions used by Kickback and its working culture. The management already knew Daniel as a respectable and trustworthy person, which may have helped him to be a strong candidate versus Norwegian competitors. They are a truly agile, progressive company with excellent grasp of modern business and operations beyond borders” says Filip Szczucki, Site Manager at Schibsted Tech Polska.

 A difficult recruitment process was completed, and the Polish candidate was offered the position. As of July, Daniel Cisek has taken the newly created position of Chief Technology Officer. Despite the expanded scope of duties, he continues to be responsible for further brand development, including refreshing the technology applied at the existing websites with discount codes and the platform’s growth that will deliver the recommended products to particular papers from the portfolio.

“My journey with Schibsted Tech Polska started almost 5 years ago, so I joined the team pretty much the same time as Kickback. And even though I would have never imagined it would turn out like this, I am extremely grateful to have been given this opportunity and very happy that my efforts have been appreciated. The new role is much more challenging and entails more responsibility, but that is good. I am taking on the challenge and will soon prove that Kickback was right to have trusted Schibsted Tech Polska and me” – adds Daniel Cisek, CTO at Kickback.
