NWT Media is one of the largest media companies in Sweden, with 16 newspapers including print, site and apps. Every week we serve local news 24/7 to around 700 000 unique visitors.

We work with a modern technology stack based on JavaScript and TypeScript with the use of ReactNext.js, and Node.js.

The development department in Karlstad, Sweden includes 8 people: software developers, UX-designer and technical product owners. They work hand in hand with our 5-person team in Gdańsk, focused on developing the news presentation platform. Its purpose is to publish news for websites accessed by both mobile and desktop consumers. The entire team continuously updates the platform with new features and functionalities. As this is an in-house product, we have the comfort of full control of all stages of the software development process and life cycle.

Our main business goal is to increase digital revenues through subscriptions and ads. We also have the ambition to attract more younger readers and to build an overall larger and more loyal digital reader base.

In 2023 we are taking the next step in our long-term roadmap by focusing on personalization and an algorithmic approach around news presentation.

🔷 ABOUT THE ROLE

  • You will be leading the Gdańsk team, working together with your colleagues in Karlstad on the development and maintenance of the news presentation platform and newspaper websites
  • While your efforts will be focused on technological outcomes, you will spend some of your time developing and guiding people. Whether the project and team are successful will also depend on your attitude and actions
  • You will be developing and maintaining web-based software solutions using JavaScript and Typescript with Node.js backend in an AWS environment

Fullstack Developer

Senior DevOps Engineer

🔷ABOUT THE PRODUCT

Mittanbud is the largest tender service in Norway , established in 2009. It acts as an intermediary in tenders to over 30.000 suppliers throughout the country. Every week, it sends 5.000 new work assignments to companies registered on the Mittanbud platform.

In 2022 the Finnish version, Remppatori, was launched with more countries coming soon.

Mittanbud product is developed by the teams located in two offices: Oslo and Gdańsk.

On the Norwegian side, we have several teams we work with. These are back-end DevOps developers, SQA, data and front-end developers. In total, there are about 40 people associated with the office in Oslo.

In the Gdańsk office, we’re 4 people focused on developing the business-related part of the Mittanbud platform, both for WEB and MOBILE (iOS, Android). We want the Gdańsk team to grow and expand its competencies and responsibilities.

We offer you a job in a very stable and mature project , in a harmonious team of experienced engineers. We are going to implement our solutions in new markets therefore we are enlarging our teams. We will provide you with time and budget to develop competencies that you consider as important. We work mainly remotely, but we also visit our awesome office regularly.

  • Work with KUBERNETES – Cluster infrastructure is managed by Schibsted Developer Foundations team, however we manage every resource on it.
  • Work with various AWS services (among others: S3, EKS, EC2, Lambda, ElastiCache, RDS, Cloudwatch, WAF, SNS)
  • Work with: TERRAFORM (DNS records, Github/AWS users, some EC2, IAM etc. Would like more converted to TF code)
  • Work with GRAFANA (Dashboards using Prometheus metrics produced by our Kubernetes Cluster)
  • Experience with GitHub Actions (Build and trigger deploys for our GQL and frontend stacks)

Senior Data Engineer

ABOUT THE PROJECT

NWT Media is one of the largest media companies in Sweden, with 16 newspaper including print, site and apps. The NWT Media analytics and insight department contains the main data collection and preparation functions in the company, for the purpose of decision support and advanced analysis. The team contains all analytical functions and serves other departments internally (like editorial, reader revenue, sales and product divisions, finance etc.), based on the data we provide.

Our modern DW solution in the cloud (AWS) with a wide range of data sources requires vigilant maintenance, tuning and corrections. The team is located in Karlstad, Sweden and includes 5 people. This role will be remote but be close to the tech team in Gdansk who works with developing NWT Media’s news sites.

ABOUT THE ROLE

You will work together with the team in Karlstad to provide the DW Operations, Maintenance and Development services required to support the production and the continuous evolution of the DW. The main goals are to provide stable production, timely and faultless data loads, excellent query performance and sufficient data quality. You will have a great opportunity to improve and evolve the DW and performance based on your skills and knowledge.

What you will do:

  • Configure data capture, from source
  • Design target data structures, i.e. target tables/models
  • Design and orchestrate ETL jobs, with appropriate data quality controls
  • Participate in monitoring of the execution of scheduled jobs and follow-up of any mishaps or data quality alerts
  • Handle basic provisioning of AWS infrastructure and services
  • Maintaining the security of our data solution, both technical and regarding GDPR
  • Diving into technical matters to establish a grounded understanding

ABOUT YOU

  • Good knowledge of SQL and Python
  • Good knowledge in applying ETL Tools
  • Good knowledge of core AWS
  • Being well-versed in English – written and spoken – is essential
  • Prior knowledge of data warehouse concepts, prior knowledge of Snowflake
  • Some experience working with analytics or analysts
  • Basic knowledge about BI-solutions such as Tableau or Power BI
  • Knowledge about GDPR or IT Security
  • You have a university degree in a relevant field, combined with several years of work experience (3+) and background in data engineering.
  • Have a proven record of accomplishment delivering with quality and yet with flexibility as circumstances change
