JavaScript Fullstack Developer

Premium Shared Tech

What would you say about the possibility to build foundations of the media industry in Scandinavia? If that sounds interesting to you, join our team, Premium Shared Tech, to shape solutions used by various dev teams!

About us

We are at the heart of the Premium Subscriptions News organisation, which unites key newspapers in Norway and Sweden. Our responsibility is to deliver, optimise and collaborate on common technical solutions used across the Premium brands. We run projects and initiatives that serve shared business needs.

We have a great advantage of autonomy in our stack and scope, which is at the same time a challenge of setting a proper direction for our platforms. We try to combine the need for stability and resilience with experimentation and challenging our own technology choices.

About project

Our primary focus at the moment is the Frontpage Framework, which serves the web front pages for Norwegian newspapers. We are responsible for core parts, connections with central services and helping brand developers build on top of it. We closely collaborate with a dedicated Dev Ops team.

We care a lot about good practices. We use Github to organise our code, Zenhub to manage our tasks, and Scrum as a methodology to organise our workflow.

About you

In this role, you will be working mainly with Typescript and Javascript (Node.js), occasionally with React, and very often with people from other teams. You will be using testing frameworks, RESTful microservices, CI tools (Travis), and cloud platforms (AWS, Convox). You will be building reusable code and optimising it for maximum performance to ensure high product quality.

We are looking for an open and cheerful person who is proactive and action–oriented, seeking improvements — someone who is eager to learn and share their learnings with others.

Skills & requirements:

  • You have deep knowledge of Javascript.
  • You have some experience with Typescript or you’re willing to learn it.
  • You are familiar with React.
  • You know some testing methodologies and understand their importance.
  • You know the difference between merge and rebase 😉
  • Not a must, but it would be great if you had some AWS/cloud experience.
  • You have good communication skills.
  • You are open to a feedback culture.
  • Your English is fluent, both written and spoken.

As a member of our team, you will be part of a high–proficiency and fun environment where trust, openness, collaboration, and passion are key. You will work with talented and ambitious people that bring their experience to elevate our journalism through great digital products. We care a lot about our craft, always helping each other to become better at it. We test, we fail, and we learn together.
